The withdrawal from Afghanistan was something that both President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden wanted. Unfortunately, the withdrawal did not happen as planned. The withdrawal was delayed from the original May 1 date that was set by President Trump, but President Biden administration worked on plans to withdrawal August 31st. This decision was made despite signs the Taliban was not complying with the original agreement signed by President Trump. Despite what the Taliban was doing and the key decision for military withdrawal action and expert assessment of the withdrawal agreement. There is enough blame to go around. Unfortunately, the withdrawal planning that was anticipated advanced much faster than anticipated due to the actions of the Taliba.
This war that has taken the lives of nearly 2,500 of our best servicemen and servicewomen, the excessive cost of money and lasted through four presidents still was not successful. The last 13 casualties occurred at the airport during the withdrawal was killed by a suicide bomber.
